Cosmetics & Personal Care in Europe

Skincare, haircare, makeup and personal care, with every ingredient listed and its status under cosmetic regulations.

About cosmetics & personal care in Europe

In the European Union, cosmetics fall under Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009, which bans well over a thousand substances, restricts others by concentration and product type, and requires ingredients to be listed by their INCI names. Products appear here as TrustPick users scan them.

Each product page lists the full ingredient list as printed, and, once analysed, each ingredient’s status under the cosmetic rules of India, the EU, the US and Canada, with the reason for anything flagged.

Worth checking on the label

  • Fragrance and preservatives, the usual triggers for sensitive skin
  • Ingredients that are restricted to certain concentrations or product types (rinse-off versus leave-on)
  • Colourants and UV filters, which are approved ingredient by ingredient
